What’s a MicroFridge?
A MicroFridge is a combination microwave oven, refrigerator, and separate, real freezer (not a “cooling tray”). The MicroFridge has patented circuitry built in which prevents blown fuses or tripped circuit breakers, and also reduces energy consumption. Each MicroFridge meets all the University’s electrical and safety requirements, and contains the only APPROVED microwave oven for use in all residence halls.
What is the cost to rent a MicroFridge?
The MicroFridge rents for $179 for the academic year (through end of classes in May). Refrigerator/Freezer only units are also available, and rent for $119 for the academic year.

How can I split the cost of the rental with my roommate?
If you choose to share the cost with a roommate, you may do so on your own accord. Cool Equipment Leasing only accepts payment in full from ONE student, and that student will be assigned responsibility for the rental for the academic year.
I do not have my residence hall and room assignment. Can I still order?
Yes, you may still place your order. Please email us at service@cool-equipment.com as soon as you receive your room assignment. In the email include your full name, residence hall, room number, and a phone number where we can reach you. We will need this information in order to deliver the unit to your room.
I have not been able to contact my roommate, so I do not know if a unit has been ordered already. What happens if both my roommate and I order a unit?
Cool Equipment Leasing will fully refund one student if multiple roommates or parents order by mistake. Let us know as soon as possible, as refunds in this instance will not be given once the academic year is underway. No exceptions.
I missed the deadline! Can I still order?
Yes. Place your order right away, and send us an email to let us know. We will do our best to deliver your unit as fast as we can. We can accept orders at anytime, while supplies last!
Will my MicroFridge be in my room when I arrive at school?
If you order before the order deadline, we are usually able to deliver your unit before you arrive at school. However, though we make our best effort to deliver rental units prior your arrival at school, we do NOT guarantee that the unit will be in the room upon your arrival. DO NOT BRING FOOD WITH YOU TO SCHOOL.
Will the freezer compartment actually keep my food frozen?
The MicroFridge and the Fridge/Freezer only unit both feature a true zero-degree freezer that can store frozen foods – even ice cream – for extended periods.
How will I know what to do with my rental unit at the end of the academic year?
Instructions for returning the unit are delivered with each unit. These instructions are also posted on our website, & will be posted around the residence halls toward the end of the year.
